The President’s Message |
|
Dana Field’s presentation on Cryptanthus was an excellent review of the characteristics and culture of a genus of which we had not had many programs. So, it was very well received by our members. In addition, he demonstrated how to propagate from seed in a very practical way including tips on the best media to use. It would be interesting to see the results in the hands of any of our members willing to take the challenge. Our thanks goes to Dana. In a few days, we will be getting together again to celebrate the Christmas season. With an excellent luncheon party at the Plantation Preserve Golf and Country Club. It will be on December 16th, 11:30 to 2:30. Becky Blackwood has selected a great place while a tempting menu awaits us. The Frazel’s have chosen three excellent plants for the members gifts and a set of beautiful bromeliads for the raffle. In addition, our exciting annual plant exchange will take place. Super plants donated by our members will bring many surprises, laughs… and also frowns and maybe tears when they are taken out of somebody’s hands. In this midst of this joyous mindset we will enter our 43rd year of existence as a Society. We are looking forward to organizing a great Show and Sale in April and Extravaganza in September. Happy Holidays to all and to all many Bromeliads in 2007.
