We want to thank David McLean for a very entertaining and  humorous presentation last month. Although the central subject was how to use bromeliads at home and garden in different and innovative settings, he was not only entertaining but very informative on several topics from fertilizing to care of bromeliads and use of media.

We have finally come up with a plan for a “social”

meeting which will be staged in August together with

our speaker’s presentation. Be ready for a change. We will not have plant sales or a raffle table but will have a

mini-auction of special plants and objects related to

bromeliads. More information in this issue.

As the delayed rains make their presence noted every day the problem is how to win the battle against weeds. They are in the pots and around the pots. Eliminating them early is the trick. This is also the time of year when slimy green algae appear in your plants specially your Neos. Again, repeated washing is necessary to avoid damage to the central leaves.
