About our Guest Speaker
Thirty-five years ago, more or less, David McLean started
teaching Bromeliad identification in his Plant Identification III classes at Broward Community College. As a landscape
designer and nurseryman, he has been trailing bromeliad
cultivars for over 50 years. He has lost as much blood and
ooo-aahh’ed as much as the old pros in this delightful and
painful hobby. David McLean is a graduate of the University of Miami; 2 years as a Division of Plant Industry Nursery
Inspector; Teacher and Department Head of Landscape ‘Technology at BCC for 39 years and still teaches Native Plants; Designer and Director of The Medicinal Garden at Nova Southeastern University in Davie. Also worked for two of the most progressive nursery and landscape companies in South Florida— East Marsh Nursery and Gardens, Inc. David is now retired and has a small retail nursery - Trinity Churchside Garden, specializing in everything green. He does landscape design, consulting and maintenance.
