BOOK REVIEW OF THE MONTH

This month’s book review is on " Bromeliads'“, published in 1973 by Victoria Padilla. The front cover has a picture of  of an Aechmea zebrina.  The cost at the time was $12.50.  It has 133 pages and 150 illustrations in full color and black and white.

Ms. Padilla gives the countries of origin and description of the native habitat of all the bromeliads, and includes a guide to the pronunciation and origin of the intricate nomenclature.

The history of the search for, discovery, and cultivation of these magnificent and unusual plants is one of the most fascinating elements of the book.

This book will be brought to the next meeting for check out.
