Text Box: Guest Speaker: Gil MacAdams "Landscaping for Wildlife in South Florida, while incorporating bromeliads! Environmental Administrator for Broward County Parks and Recreation. With 30 years of experience, he will educate us on designing a yard to attract numerous species of birds and butterflies while incorporating bromeliads in the landscape.

About our Guest Speaker

Gil grew up in northeastern Ohio, BA degree Kent State

University in Geography and Botany 1969. He taught English to Vietnamese in the Air Force, Nha Trang Vietnam, 1971. He has 32 years with the Broward County Parks as a naturalist, planner and Environmental Administrator. He is the past

President Broward Native Plant Society, Past Board Member of Broward Audubon Society and Florida Audubon Society (FAS), Chair of the FAS Conservation Committee 1988-1995. Official National Wildlife Federation Habitat Steward to promote backyard wildlife attraction, 2 yards in Broward have been certified as official National Wildlife Federation habitats.

His programs are always very informative and interesting. The last time Gil did a program for us it was standing room only….So get there early!!!!!!!

Text Box: My 12 year old son and I have 133 different Cryptanthus. I will be talking about the characteristics of the genus and growing tips. I will bring lots of my favorite crypts to show and sale along with other bromeliads.

Text Box: As for my bio - I got interested in Broms in 1985 with my 1st two plants and continued acquiring about 100 different broms a year thereafter. I currently have about 1800 different species and hybrids in 4500 sq ft of growing structures.

Text Box: I have been a member of the West Coast, Tampa, Cryptanthus societies and BSI for many years. Currently I am President of the Tampa Guild for the 4th time.
