About our Guest Speakers

Jeff was originally born in New York State and moved to Florida in 1968, where he was inspired by the tropical vegetation. His original interest was in orchids and he amassed a serious collection. While he was touring nurseries for orchids he picked up a few bromeliads and they rapidly made the transition from a minor to a major part of his collection. Through associations like the Boca Raton Bromeliad society and other group she has evolved from being a hobbyist to developing his own landscaping business with emphasis on integrating bromeliads in to the landscape. Now Joe, the beautiful assistant, his first interest was in trees and subsequently by epiphytic plants. Living in Europe and the Great Smokey Mountains further encourage his botanical interests. Since then he has traveled to several countries in Central America as well as Peru to study epiphytic plants in their natural habitat.
