Message

We retired 2006 with an excellent lunch celebration put

together by our VP Becky Blackwood. Attendance rose by

almost 30% this year and we hope more of us will come

together next December. We are also coming into 2007 when in May we will celebrate 43 years as an organization. We are happy to still count among our members some of those who were present at the inception.

Now that our Billbergias showered us with wonderful blooms – see this month’s Member’s Gallery section – and went into a waiting period for a spell of cold weather, you may be starting to enjoy the many Aechmeas coming into bloom.

With January, comes election time. I will be starting the fireworks at our regular meeting by selecting a Chairperson to head the Nominating Committee. At the same time I will request the members attending to propose the two other members to be involved in the nominating process. This is always a taxing exercise, so I call upon our members to be ready to participate and serve. Our Society will need to be even more energized this year. This will  demand from all of us a special effort to bring our Show and Sale in April and the Extravaganza in September to a successful end.
